Pre employee assessment testing is on many occasions conducted after the initial person-to-person interview. It is especially true when a smaller company is doing the recruiting. The owner of the company will meet the potential candidate and then they continue with the hiring process by implementing personality or aptitude testing. If the results are optimal, the applicant may be asked to come for short orientation and meet the other members of the team. The owner will often rely on the first impression of other employees to determine if the applicant is suitable for the job. Pre employment testing serves in this case as an assurance more than a hiring tool for final determination. The initial interview and personal references will most likely overcome any errors made by the applicant completing the test. If the interview is successful and positive feedback received from current employees, the testing maybe overlooked altogether, and not taken into consideration.
