Today, I took both of my kids to the eye doctor for their annual checkup. The good news is that both of them still have perfect vision so no glasses are necessary. This is a bit of a surprise because bad eyesight is prevalent in both sides of the family. The bad news is that during the “deep eye scan” the doctor found an oddity in my daughter’s eye. He called it a “freckle” on her cornea and referred us to a cornea specialist to make sure it is nothing potentially harmful.
I’ve hidden it from her for the most part because a nine year old doesn’t need to worry about things like this, but I’m scared to death. I know it is most likely harmless but the thought of my little girl losing her sight is beyond frightening.
I’ll hang in there and I guess we’ll find out more next week when we go the specialist.
